① Classification by machine room type

Standard machine room passenger elevator:

The machine room floor area is larger than the shaft floor area, providing better heat dissipation and facilitating elevator installation and maintenance operations.

Small machine room passenger elevator:

The machine room floor area is the same as the shaft floor area, significantly reducing the construction cost of the machine room.

Machine-room-less (MRL) passenger elevator:

No machine room is required—only the elevator shaft is needed. This provides greater design flexibility for buildings, reduces construction costs, and makes architectural aesthetics easier to achieve.

② Classification by speed

Low-speed elevator:

Refers to elevators operating at speeds below 1.00 m/s, suitable for buildings with fewer floors, such as low-rise residential buildings and small office buildings.
